It is not often that we see families in the cold night shelter. Most of the time they take refuge in a car, or a friend's back porch, or an abandoned building: somewhere they can find minimal warmth, and a sense of security. They live in the shadows, so that they and their children won't fall prey to the predators who feed on distress.

Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is pleased to announce the publication of a Project Based Voucher (PBV)
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is pleased to announce the publication of a Project Based Voucher (PBV) set-aside funding Notice for the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program. Through the competition outlined in this notice, HUD will award pproximately $7 million in HUD-VASH funding that will support approximately 1,000 PBV units. These PBVs will enable homeless veterans to access affordable housing with an array of supportive services. The vouchers are being made available from a set-aside from the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2013 (the Act) (Public Law 113-6), enacted March 26, 2013, that provided approximately $75 million dollars of funding for HUD-VASH vouchers as authorized under section 8(o)(19) of the United Stated Housing Act of 1937.

VA Offers $600 Million in Funding to Support Services for Homeless Veteran Families

Grant Program One of Many VA Initiatives to End Veterans' Homelessness

WASHINGTON – The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced the availability of up to approximately $600 million in
grants for non-profit organizations and consumer cooperatives that serve very low-income Veteran families occupying
permanent housing through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program.

DONNA

Donna is used to abuse. She was abused by her father, then her husband, and finally her mother. She was staying with her mother after fleeing her husband last November, trying to get the pieces of her life back together. However, when her mother, who suffers from mental illness, threatened the safety of Donna's three boys.

Meal Donation Program

Our Shelter is in need of prepared meals for our families. If you, your church, or orgainization, would like to sign up to bring a meal to the shelter, please contact us at (850) 409-3070. Volunteers just drop the meals off at the shelter, no clean up is required.

DAVID

We met David two days after his 11th birthday. He celebrated it in his car, with his mother and two small brothers. They had been living from parking lot to parking lot after his mother finally decided it was more dangerous living with her husband than out on the streets.
